Our qualified staff can help you on issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, psychological and behavioural disorders, issues arising from relationships and work related problems. Counselling

We believe people have an innate desire to be the best they can be. However, sometimes we are distracted by challenges, which can cause and contribute to anxiety, depression or just making it difficult to get through the day. Positive Self can help you work through your personal issues so you can take control of your life.

Our private practice provides you with a supportive judge free environment where you have an opportunity to work through your issues openly and honestly. The therapeutic approach emerges from what the individual voluntarily brings to the session. Genuine empathetic listening allows the individual to explore their personal issues to ultimately achieve a greater understanding of their inner self.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a form of relaxation. In a relaxed state, individuals experience clear thinking allowing individuals an opportunity to open the passage of deeper levels of self-awareness. Hypnotherapy can assist with anxiety, phobias, and help quit smoking, over eating and gambling.

Life Coaching

Are you feeling that there is more to life than what you are currently experiencing? Do you have a dream but do not know what or how to achieve it? Or just feeling lost and need support to find a new direction?

Life coaching can help you find the question to the above questions. Collaboratively we help you find what is missing in your life and plan strategies aimed to achieve your personal goals. Weight Loss & Management

Positive Self aims to put an end to dieting and supplements. Our Reality Check Lifestyle Course tackles weight loss from a holistic perspective combining food planning, personal training and counselling.

Reality Check takes weight loss beyond what to eat and not eat. Reality Check focuses on the emotional and situational factors that influence eating behaviours. Increasing your awareness of these influences will help you break habits and replace them with positive healthy responses. Acknowledging your relationship with food enables you to reflect and explore the underlying issues. Heighten awareness will provide an opportunity to change how you think and feel about food.

Moreover, the outdoor training sessions will help you change the way you view yourself. The training sessions will reveal that you can achieve whatever you set out to achieve. The cross training boot camp style drills will suit all fitness levels and will leave you feeling empowered physically and mentally.

As the weeks progress new behaviours will be formed and the obstacles you face will transform into positive driving forces that will sustain and maintain your motivation beyond the completion of the course.

The 10-week course includes:

  • 3 group personal training sessions each week
  • 1 hour group therapy/workshop each week
  • a handbook and journal

Outdoor Personal Training

Our outdoor personal training programs are 5 week and 10 week packages each with different fitness objective. We offer individual personal training and group personal training. You can join an existing group or you can get a group of four friends and chose the time and day. All sessions run for 50-60 minutes and are held at various outdoor parks and reserves in Mill Park, Bundoora, Greensborough and Eltham. X-Trainer
We focus on cardio vascular fitness and body resistance strength training. Each session will be different, offering a range of boot camp style drills that will improve your fitness level and will leave you feeling stronger and toned.

Run 4 Fun
We have running groups for novice and non-professional runners. Novice runners are those who believe they cannot run but would like to build their fitness so they can take their physical activity to another level.

Non-professionals are those who enjoy running and would like run with others for motivation and safety. The focus is on improving pace and endurance to participate in organized 5k, 10k, ½ marathons and marathons.

Boot Camp (3 sessions per week for 5 weeks)

If you are looking for a challenge and want to make changes physically and mentally then this program is for you. The program combines strength training and cardio workouts using boot camp style drills that will leave you feeling empowered. This is the one people are talking about.

Psychologist

Manuel Boultadakis is our resident psychologist who has been a registered psychologist for over 10 years. He is a reputable psychologist and is often invited to conduct presentations at various peer related conferences across the country to share and impart his knowledge and experience within his field of expertise.

We are honoured and fortunate to have Manuel as our resident psychologist. His approach and techniques have helped many people move on and enjoy a happier lifestyle. Many have quit smoking and ceased binge eating under his guidance amongst other things. Manuel’s therapeutic approach includes Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR and Thought Field Therapy.

Counsellor

Christella Paschalis is the creator and founder behind Positive Self. She believes the mind is a powerful force and is responsible for all our positive and destructive self-talk and behaviours. Positive Self aims to help you through your daily struggles by guiding and increasing your level of self-awareness. Often people carry so much stress and are overloaded with concerns which block and prevent themselves from finding solutions to their issues. Positive Self will help you find a greater understanding of your self thus enabling you to move forward and enjoy life.

Christella is a qualified counsellor having completed a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) and a Graduate Diploma in Social Science (Counselling). Christella spends most of her time helping people with personal development and general well-being. Christella’s therapeutic approach includes Humanistic, Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Christella Paschalis

As a qualified Fitness Trainer, registered with Fitness Australia, Christella is inspired by her genuine passion to develop outdoor training programs that encourage and motive individuals to exceed their personal best. She believes every moment in every session is an opportunity to build on past performance and this applies to all fitness levels. The biggest reward is helping people progress and achieve their personal goals and beyond. If you are committed, Christella can design a healthy eating and exercise regime that will achieve your fitness and weight loss goals.

Liz Betts

Liz is also a qualified Fitness Trainer, registered with Fitness Australia. Her philosophy in life is to live life to the fullest. Believe in yourself and never say “never”. Over the past 20 years she has been involved in the fitness industry working with triathletes, body builders and elite athletes. Her passion is driven by wanting to help motivate people, teaching them to believe in themselves, and working towards practical realistic goals. Establishing for all clients healthy nutritional guidance for energy and well-being.
